Less than a day after their playoff exit, the Toronto Maple Leafs are already eyeing a major shakeup behind the bench.

Despite achieving regular season success under Sheldon Keefe, the Maple Leafs have struggled to make a deep playoff run, culminating in a heart-wrenching Game 7 overtime defeat this past Saturday. It now seems likely that Keefe could be on his way out as the team looks to reshape its future.

Emerging reports, including one from David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, suggest that Toronto is considering former Blues coach Craig Berube as a possible replacement.

"As TFP's David Pagnotta reported on SiriusXM NHL Network Radio last month, the Leafs are believed to have interest in former St. Louis Blues bench boss Craig Berube becoming their next coach and could look to interview him if they decide to make a coaching change."

Berube boasts a commendable record of 281-190-72 from his tenures with St. Louis and Philadelphia, including leading the Blues to a Stanley Cup victory in 2019. In a recent interview, Berube expressed that it would be an "honour" to coach the Maple Leafs, indicating a mutual interest.

With a long offseason ahead, Toronto is poised for significant changes. While Berube is a strong candidate, the Leafs are expected to evaluate a range of options. This summer could very well set the course for the franchise's direction for the foreseeable future.
