Mitch Marner is set to be the NHL's biggest free agent this summer, and now a top NHL Insider has revealed what he's looking for on his next deal.
The NHL off-season is just weeks away, and while there's plenty to keep an eye on for fans, it's safe to say that the free agency decision of Mitch Marner will be the biggest story of the summer in the league.
The former Toronto Maple Leafs star seems likely to be on his way out after nine years with the organization, and unsurprisingly, he's expected to have many suitors around the league this summer.
For the most part, the belief around the league is that he's gone from Toronto, and despite being from Toronto, it appears that the pressure and the constant scrutiny will drive him to moving on.
Now, Mike Johnson has revealed what Marner is looking for on his newest deal, and the details of that make it very clear that Mitch knows he's the biggest name on the market this summer.
Johnson: «I mean, I think, and you hear that, it seems there's going to be just so many teams, perhaps understandably, interested in Mitch Marner, (inaudible) that he'd want to go. He'd want everything, right? He'd want the lifestyle, he'd want the contract, and he'd want the good team.
According to Johnson, Marner wants it all, the lifestyle, the contract and a good team, and with those parameters in mind, it's safe to say that teams like Vegas, Florida and Los Angeles are all currently in play.
Beyond that though, there are many teams that could look to simply pay him more to become the star of their franchise, but for now, all we know is that there's immense interest league wide, so now we wait and see how this plays out.
