Vegas Golden Knights Make Key Addition with Young Forward Signing

The future of the Vegas Golden Knights has come into question in recent times after the team traded away some major future assets, meaning the prospects that they do have remaining will need to make it big for this team to sustain their success.

On Tuesday, they locked up 2024 first-round pick Trevor Connelly, and on Wednesday, they team announced the signing of another draft pick, however this time it's from the 2020 draft.

The player is forward Jackson Hallum, a 22-year old Minnesota native who has spent the last three years with the University of Michigan, and will report to the team after inking a two-year entry level deal.

This past season, Hallum matched his career high with 17 points in 36 games played, showing that while he thrives with his physicality, has also has the talent to produce points at a high level against tough opponents.

With a stacked forward group that got even more stacked with Connelly's arrival, it's unclear what the future holds for Hallum, as many believe he is likely to be a bottom-six forward at the most in the NHL.

Ultimately though, this is a great move from GM Kelly McCrimmon to lock him up now, as they'll potentially be able to get him in some NHL games before the end of this season, and if he can turn out to be a solid contributor in the NHL, it will be a major win for a team that's seemingly been a contender every year that they've been in the league.
