Alexander Ovechkin Set to Fly to Moscow Amid Mysterious Offseason Plans
Alex Ovechkin had an incredible 2024/25 season for the Washington Capitals, and now he's set some mysterious off-season plans back in Russia.
The 2024/25 season in the NHL was an amazing one, with so many memorable moments, performances and overall consistent great things, but the biggest moment of all came when Alex Ovechkin passed Wayne Gretzky as the NHL's all-time goal scorer, something many believed was never possible.
At 39-years of age, the belief from some was that this was the final accomplishment that Ovechkin wanted in the NHL, and that his career could be winding down as he nears 40-years of age.
However, he has confirmed that he'll be back in 2025/26, but beyond that his plans in hockey are a mystery, as is his off-season plans, as he has recently flown back to Moscow.
According to Ovechkin's agent, The Great 8 has certain plans in his home country of Russia, but at this point in time, he's going to keep them a secret until he's ready to reveal what he's doing.
"There are certain plans, he will tell about them himself if he wants. I would not like to advertise them for now."
That's led to plenty of speculation about what could be happening, and with Ovechkin rumoured to be interested in a return to the KHL following his NHL career, that's definitely something that fans are keeping an eye on.
For now though, we know that the long-time Capitals captain is returning to the team next season, but beyond that we have no idea what is happening with the revered legend, so perhaps when we find out about these mysterious plans, we'll have a little more clarity over his future in the league.
