Capitals forward Pierre-Luc Dubois got honest about his failed time with the Los Angeles Kings and then his career turnaround after being acquired by Washington.

Things did not work out for Pierre-Luc Dubois with the Los Angeles Kings, and at one point, his contract was commonly thought of as one of the worst in all of the NHL.
But things began to turn around for him when the Washington Capitals took a massive risk by acquiring him for goaltender Darcy Kuemper, and the results worked out for both sides.
Not only did Kuemper re-establish himself as a solid No. 1 goalie with the Kings, but Dubois enjoyed a career turnaround with the Capitals, scoring 66 points (20G, 46A) and helping the Capitals to the top spot in the Metropolitan Division.
He spoke about his career resurgence and why he thought things didn't work out for him with the Kings, as Washington helped him right after his arrival.
I think I owe it to a lot of people. First of all, the players here from Day 1 welcomed me like a brother. And then the coaching staff after that from the head coach to the assistants, even the GM, president, everybody.

The first phone calls I had really treated like they really wanted me to succeed, were going to give me a chance to succeed. And then after that, just coming here, they just said, just be yourself, you don't need to do more. You don't need to do less. Be yourself. We'll give you a chance. I think it's a chance I didn't necessarily get in LA.

Dubois and the Capitals will aim to defend their divisioin title this year and open training camp in less than a month.

Pierre-Luc Dubois often feuded with former coach John Tortorella

During his time with the Columbus Blue Jackets, Dubois often butted heads with hard-nosed coach John Tortorella.
There was even a public incident that went viral of an argument the two had on the bench:

Dubois, who was taken with the 3rd overall pick by the Blue Jackets in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, has 408 points (165G, 243A) in 598 career games.
