Intense Matchup Leads to Refs Issuing Over 120 Penalty Minutes in One Play
Games between the Florida Panthers and Tampa Bay Lightning always bring the heat, and tonight was no exception.
In a departure from their usual tight matchups, the Panthers dominated the Lightning with a commanding 9-2 victory. As often happens in blowout games, tensions boiled over, particularly in the third period.
However, it was in the final minute that things truly spiraled out of control. With less than a minute remaining, the situation on the ice escalated rapidly, and the referees struggled to maintain order.
Faced with every player engaging in altercations, the officials had no choice but to eject every single player from the game. In total, over 120 minutes in penalties were issued in the closing moments of the match.
The heated rivalry between these two teams will undoubtedly intensify when they meet again on March 16th, promising to be must-watch television.
