After months of speculation about the team's future, the Calgary Flames have finally signed a member of their core to a contract extension. Over the summer reports suggested up to four players. We're looking for a change of scenery. In that list of players was Mikael Backlund.

But upon returning to Calgary after a summer away, it appears he's had a change of heart. Today, Seravalli broke the news that the two parties had come together on a 2-year contract extension.
