Former NHL goalie Devan Dubnyk gave his take on the chances of former Pittsburgh Penguins goalie Marc-Andre Fleury deciding to delay his retirement and play one more year in the NHL.

Former National Hockey League goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury officially retired after playing one final preseason game in a Pittsburgh Penguins sweater, the team with which he won three Stanley Cups.
He had spent the last handful of years playing for the Minnesota Wild, and he announced before the 2024-25 season that it would be his last in the NHL.
But just as there was over the summer, there are now multiple rumours of Fleury potentially delaying his retirement and playing one final year in the NHL, as there are now reports that he'd be open to an opportunity if it came along.
Former NHL goaltender Devan Dubnyk, who played many years in a Wild sweater himself, said that he wouldn't be surprised if Fleury does come back for one last hurrah considering what an elite athlete he is.
I gotta be honest, I'm not surprised. He's just a guy that loves the game so much, he's a freak athlete, he went and played a preseason game in Pittsburgh and didn't get scored on.

He just love the game so much, and if someone makes a phone call and throws it out there to give him a little itch and put it in his head, I'm not surprised he's considering it.

I honestly wouldn't be that blown away if we saw Marc-Andre Fleury somewhere, because he's just that great of an athlete. - Devan Dubnyk
Fleury's 572 wins are second overall in NHL history behind only Martin Brodeur.

Marc-Andre Fleury Played One Final Preseason Game In A Penguins Sweater In September

Fleury announced that he was going to play one last preseason game in a Penguins sweater at PPG Paints Arena, and the game against the Columbus Blue Jackets was sold out as fans packed the building to watch him play.
Fleury received multiple ovations from the crowd, showing that he's still as beloved as ever in Pittsburgh despite not having officially played for them since 2017.
