Scary Situation As Hockey Player Is Left Laying Motionless After A Vicious Hit
A player from the Czech Extraliga league, defenseman Michal Houdek, finds himself in hot water after delivering a brutal hit to former teammate Tim Söderlund during a recent match between Plzen HC and Pardubice HC.
Söderlund was lining up a shot when Houdek charged in, delivering a heavy blow with the main impact seemingly targeting his head. The Plzen HC defenseman lay motionless on the ice and had to be stretchered off.
The ELH wasted no time in responding, handing Houdek a ten-game suspension for his illegal check to Söderlund's head.
Having played 34 games for Plžen this season, Houdek was only on his third game with Pardubice on loan.
The hefty suspension is well-deserved given the severity of the hit and resulting injury. There's no place for such dangerous plays in hockey, and strict penalties are necessary to eliminate them from the game.
