Tragedy struck the CrossFit Games on Thursday as Serbian athlete Lazar Dukic drowned during the 800m event.
In a video posted on X, Dukic could be seen going beneath the water. However, he never re-emerges, and the efforts to save him appear to be barely existent. It is a bizarre incident and one that has sent shockwaves through the world.
The CrossFit Games posted about the tragedy on X where they noted how they are currently cooperating with the authorities throughout their investigation. However, it remains unknown what will come of this, and how culpable the event organizers may be in all of this.
Our heart goes out to Dukic's family during this incredibly difficult time. We hope they get the support they need from the CrossFit community.
