On SportsCenter with Jay Onrait, NHL insider and former player Frank Corrado discussed Boeser's contract situation. Although extending Boeser may not be the top priority at this moment, it should be addressed to ensure the stability of the Canucks' core, which is already locked up for the foreseeable future.
Boeser's performance has steadily improved since his debut during the 2016-2017 season. Last season, he played one game shy of a full season and set a new career-high in points by nearly twenty. Locking up Boeser would allow the Canucks to focus on finding the fringe players necessary to fill out the rest of their rosterplayers who may not be all-stars but can bring specific, valuable aspects to the team.
While the Canucks could potentially manage without Boeser, it is in everyone's best interest, including Boeser's, to finalize a contract extension sooner rather than later. Although some players prefer a wait-and-see approach, if both the club and Boeser feel that the timing and numbers are right, there should be no hesitation in securing a deal.
By extending Boeser, the Canucks would ensure continuity and stability within their core group, allowing them to build on last season's success and strive for even greater achievements in the coming years.
