Steven Stamkos and Jonathan Marchessault didn't come close to the playoffs in their 1st year with the Predators, but they are ready to turn the page and attempt for a better 2nd year.

Nashville Predators general manager Barry Trotz thought that he had elevated the club into legitimate Stanley Cup contention after he signed UFA forwards Steven Stamkos and Jonathan Marchessault last summer.
For good measure, Trotz also signed UFA defenseman Brady Skjei while also re-signing goalie Juuse Saros to an 8 year extension
Unfortunately for Nashville, their year was nothing short of a disaster. They struggled to string together wins and didn't come close to the postseason. But despite the disappointment, both Stamkos and Marchessault are ready to put the difficult year behind them.
Stamkos:
We're trying to forget about that one. There was some new excitement for some of the new guys last year. It was obviously a tough transition and now we're coming in a lot more comfortable.

Marchessault:
Now, we're turning the page. I'm really happy in Nashville. It's a great pace of life for my family. I'm lucky to be here, and in these situations, it's important to look back on your journey. If you had told me 20 years ago that I would be playing for an NHL organization, I would have kept my mouth shut and said nothing.

Can the Predators flush their rotten year and get back to the playoffs in 2026?

Jonathan Marchessault spoke about his mental health battle this year

Marchessault, who lost his mother just before the start of last season, revealed in March that his mental health had been a struggle.
Mental health (has been) challenging this year. But if you look at my past, and the way I'm built and all that, I will bounce back.

In his 1st year with the Predators, Marchessault had 56 points (21G, 35A).
