Based on a new report from analyst Chris Johnston of The Athletic, former Flyers goalie Carter Hart could end up back in the Penguins' division, the Metropolitan.

Former Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Carter Hart has indicated that he wants a fresh start from his former NHL home, and even though there were reports linking him to the Edmonton Oilers, it looks like that won't be happening.
There are still multiple teams looking for additional goaltending depth, and per a new report from analyst Chris Johnston, Hart could join the Carolina Hurricanes because of the uncertainty of Pyotr Kochetkov.
Carolina also makes plenty of sense for Hart after the Canes won 151 regular-season games and five playoff series across the past three years. They accomplished that while consistently relying on goaltending options beyond alternating starters Frederik Andersen and Pyotr Kochetkov, who combined to play 79 percent of the available regular-season games during that stretch and remain under contract with the team for the 2025-26 season.

Kochetkov is also coming off a season in which he posted an .898 save percentage in 47 appearances - a couple of ticks below the NHL average at the position.

There is also the uncertainty surrounding Frederik Andersen, who hasn't been able to stay consistently healthy. Adding Hart would be a good insurance policy.

Carter Hart is confirmed to not be back with the Flyers

Flyers GM Danny Briere confirmed the news that Hart will not be back in Philadelphia and that he wants a fresh start elsewhere.
The only comment I'll make on that is that his representative, Judd Moldaver, has reached out and kind of told us that in light of everything that happened in the last year and a half with Carter, they felt, and Carter felt, that it was better for them to look for a fresh start.

-Danny Briere

Hart, who was taken by the Flyers with the 48th pick in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, has a career record of 96-93-29.
