Pittsburgh Penguins forward Bryan Rust had a hand in today's win over the Dallas Stars, and he set both a personal and franchise record in the process.

The Pittsburgh Penguins remain mathematically alive in the Eastern Conference postseason race, winning 5-3 over the Dallas Stars Saturday afternoon at American Airlines Center.
Sidney Crosby notched his 17th career hat trick, outdueling Stars forward Evgeni Dadonov, who had a hat trick of his own.
Also scoring for the Penguins was veteran forward Bryan Rust, who reached 28 goals in a year for the 1st time; it was also the 200th goal of his career.
Additionally, Rust became the 9th player in Penguins history to score 200 goals with the club.
His 3rd period goal tied the game at 3-3:

Rust reached a pair of career milestones in January

Earlier this year, Rust reached a pair of milestones by appearing in his 600th NHL game while also earning his 400th career point.
Any time you can get a milestone... obviously it's not Sid's 9,000th assist, but it's something for me, which is nice. Hell, it means a lot to me. Any time you can play for one team for a long time and be able to stick with an organization, I think that says a lot. I have a lot of pride in that, that there was no change of scenery needed, at least of yet [laughs]. Hopefully that's never the case. Obviously, I love this organization. It's done a lot of really good things for me, if you can tell - 600 games and 400 points is pretty cool.

A 2-time Stanley Cup winner, Rust was praised as an "honest" player by coach Mike Sullivan shortly after he reached the milestone in January.
He's an honest player who brings an honest effort every game. You know what you're going to get from him. He plays on both sides of the puck, he plays in every situation. He made his mark in the league being a penalty killer and a checker, and he's evolved offensively to the point where he's a 20-plus goal scorer.

«So, for me, he's just a complete player. He's a Stanley Cup champion. He's been here a long time.
