Pittsburgh Penguins veteran forward Bryan Rust scored his 29th goal of the year in last night's win over the Devils, and has established a new career-best.
The Pittsburgh Penguins aren't going to qualify for the Stanley Cup Playoffs, but that hasn't stopped one of the most important members of the team from setting a key personal milestone.
Penguins veteran Bryan Rust, who helped the team win back to back Stanley Cups in 2016 and 2017, scored his 29th goal of the year as part of his club's 4-2 win over the New Jersey Devils on Friday night.
Despite trailing by a pair of goals, the Penguins managed to rally and pick up a victory. The win will serve as nothing more than bragging rights considering the fact that Pittsburgh will have to watch the Devils in the playoffs later this month.
We could have easily just kind of rolled over there. But I think it says a lot about the guys in this room and the leadership in this room that we still have that pride and that character to continue to go out there and try to win games and try and do right by the Penguins jersey.
Rust recently reached the 200 goal mark in his career as part of their victory against the Dallas Stars; he also became the the 9th player in Penguins history to score 200 goals while wearing the Pittsburgh sweater.
Rust and the Penguins only have 2 games remaining on their schedule; they host the Boston Bruins and Washington Capitals at PPG Paints Arena.
