The rebuilding Pittsburgh Penguins didn't fare well when it came to reviews of the broadcast duo of Josh Getzoff and Colby Armstrong for local television broadcasts.

While Pittsburgh Penguins general manager Kyle Dubas works to rebuild the on-ice product, one key department of the team is drawing negative reviews in a recent ranking.
The Penguins' broadcast duo of Josh Getzoff and Colby Armstrong was ranked among the lowest in a recent polling by Awful Announcing of 8,500 individual votes from over 800 respondents.
A brief excerpt from the Penguins' broadcast review:
This team saw some recent change, with Getzoff (who had previously worked in their radio booth) taking over as the lead play-by-play voice in 2023 and this trio of analysts also joining then. That followed a six-year run for Steve Mears on play-by-play and a 19-year-run for Bob Errey on analysis. Mears and Errey finished 30th of 31 teams in our 2020 rankings with a 1.48, while Paul Steigerwald and Errey placed 30th of 30 in 2016 with a 1.27. Thus, while the numerical grade for the newer booth is higher, the relative placement is similar.

What's worse, the Penguins have experienced a 38% drop in local television broadcast ratings, one of the biggest drop-offs in viewership in the NHL.
The Penguins have missed the Stanley Cup Playoffs in each of the last 3 years, the longest drought of captain and future Hall of Famer Sidney Crosby's NHL career.
Pittsburgh has already made a major change in leadership, dismissing coach Mike Sullivan after nearly 10 years on the job. If the Penguins don't improve their on-ice performance soon, don't expect those ratings to climb anytime soon.
