Penguins Divisional Foe May Emerge as Trade Destination for Tristan Jarry

It was an up and down year for Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender Tristan Jarry, who was at one point waived and sent to the American Hockey League before eventually coming back to the NHL.

The Penguins could decide it's time to move on from Jarry, who still has 3 years left on his current contract but is also competing for starts with Alex Nedeljkovic and Joel Blomqvist.

Additionally, the Penguins have young goaltender Sergei Murashov waiting in the wings for his opportunity.

In the meantime, the Penguins' divisional foe Philadelphia Flyers are said to be in the market for a goaltender and could prove to be an intriguing option for Jarry if he moved on from Pittsburgh.

The Flyers are a team who arguably haven't had a legitimate starting goaltender since the days of Ron Hextall.

Over the years since then, they've gone through names like Brian Boucher, Roman Cechmanek (RIP), Michael Leighton, Ilya Bryzgalov, Steve Mason, Michael Neuvirth, and Carter Hart, but none of them was ever able to fully seize control of the starting reigns.

While Jarry himself has had difficulty establishing that he can be a bonafide starting goaltender in the NHL, a change of scenery could prove beneficial for him.

This year, the Flyers rode the tandem of Samuel Ersson and Ivan Fedotov, the latter of which didn't impress despite his physically imposing 6'8" frame.

Jarry has 3 years left on his deal with an AAV (average annual value) of $5,375,000.
