While the year is over for the Pittsburgh Penguins, there is fantastic personal news from forward Bryan Rust, who is coming off a career-best 31 goals.
The Pittsburgh Penguins will have to watch the Stanley Cup Playoffs from home for the 3rd consecutive year, as they failed to clinch a berth; their playoff drought is now also the longest of captain Sidney Crosby's career.
They gathered one final time this year at their training facility to not only clean out their lockers but also to meet with the media and discuss not only what went wrong this year but to look ahead to the future.
In the meantime, it won't be long before forward Bryan Rust and his wife Kelsey welcome their 3rd child into their lives.
Understandably, Rust is excited about the prospect of his family growing.
I'm excited. Being a dad's one thing that brings me, I'd say, my most happiness - just being able to spend as much time with my family as I can and watch my kids grow. They obviously love watching me play hockey and stuff. I always see them at warmups, they're super pumped up. But I think when they have me home, it's fun.
Rust isn't the only Penguins player with a soon-to-be larger family, as both Rickard Rakell and Tristan Jarry are expectant fathers as well.
After reaching 30 goals, Rust became just the 8th player in Pittsburgh history to score 30 after having turned 32 years of age; also on that list include Sidney Crosby and Mario Lemieux.
