The Penguins have informed veteran forward Rickard Rakell that he won't be traded despite a flurry of deals at the 2025 NHL Trade Deadline.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have made a flurry of moves at the Trade Deadline, sending Anthony Beauvillier to the Washington Capitals along with trading Cody Glass to the New Jersey Devils. Additionally, they just picked up Conor Timmins and Connor Dewar from the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Earlier in the week, they sent Michael Bunting and a draft selection to the Nashville Predators in return for Luke Schenn and Tommy Novak.
But while veteran forward Rickard Rakell was rumoured to be on the trading block, he's officially been informed of his fate - he's sticking around the Penguins for now.
Rakell has been with the Penguins since he was acquired via trade with the Anaheim Ducks in March 2022 for Zach Aston-Reese, Dominik Simon and a 2nd round draft pick.
This year with the Penguins, he has 53 points (29G, 24A).
Earlier in the week just days before today's Trade Deadline, Rakell made it clear that his desire was to remain with the Penguins.
I love Pittsburgh, I love being a part of this team. I want to stay. That's all I can say.

I don't think anything can prepare you for what might happen. So it sounds cliche, but I'm just trying to focus on my game. I can't control what's happening around me. So not thinking about it is probably the best thing for me.

Having already been traded once before in his career, Rakell admitted that the experience would help him if a deal had been in the works this time around.
I just learned that whatever happens, it's always going to be fine.
