Penguins general manager Kyle Dubas explained in a lengthy press conference what his plans for the club are after parting ways with now-former coach Mike Sullivan.
The Pittsburgh Penguins caught many off guard with a major announcement earlier this morning, parting ways with head coach Mike Sullivan.
Penguins general manager Kyle Dubas, who arrived at the decision last week, held a wide-ranging press conference in Pittsburgh this afternoon.
While explaining that he informed captain Sidney Crosby of the impending change in a brief phone call yesterday, he also explained the factors he'll be considering for the next coaching hire, saying he'll cast 'a wide net' while revealing that both minor-league coaches and European-based coaches will be in the running.

They don't have to continue on what's been built on the coaching side.
Sullivan was one of the longest-tenured head coaches in the NHL, as he had been behind Pittsburgh's bench since December of 2015 when he replaced the terminated Mike Johnston.
Immediately, Sullivan led the Penguins to consecutive Stanley Cups and helped keep them in playoff contention for the next several years. Things have not gone well of late, as the franchise has now missed the postseason for the last 3 consecutive years.
