Ryan Graves is back with the Pittsburgh Penguins after being placed on waivers at the beginning of the year and having to play in the AHL with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

The Pittsburgh Penguins are one of the surprise storyline so far this year, but defenseman Ryan Graves wasn't initially a part of it.
He was put on waivers by the Penguins and later assigned to the AHL's Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins after he wasn't claimed. It was his first demotion to the AHL in six years.
But now he's back with the Penguins and even scored today during their S/O loss to the New Jersey Devils.
I think I'm happy with where I'm at. I've done some really good things. Just trying to transition what I've been working on (in WBS) and applying it into the role that I'll play here versus the role that I play there. So, steps in the right direction.

Ryan Graves Was Called Back Up To The Penguins

Graves signed a six year contract with the Penguins in 2023, and had played 131 games in a Penguins sweater since then. But he was waived before this season and assigned to the AHL.
When he was called back up this week, he said playing in the NHL is where he wants to be.
I mean, obviously, this is where you want to be. It's a tough situation. You obviously want to play in the NHL, it's the best league in the world and it's hard to be here. I have an appreciation for that, so you go there with a good mindset and you want to be back here. So I'm just trying to make the most of the opportunity.

Graves has 119 points (33G, 86A) in 435 career NHL games.
