Standout World Juniors Goalie Added to Penguins Development Camp
Standout World Junior Championships goaltender Linards Feldbergs of Latvia has been given an invitation to attend the Pittsburgh Penguins' development camp.
It won't be long before Development Camp for the Pittsburgh Penguins will be getting underway, and their 2025 NHL Entry Draft selections will have a chance to suit up on the ice in Pittsburgh gear for the 1st time.
The Penguins have also extended an invitation to a player who went undrafted this weekend.
Latvian goaltender Linards Feldbergs has officially been invited to take part in Pittsburgh's Development Camp:
Feldbergs' scouting report via Elite Prospects reads as follows:
Quick and athletic, Feldbergs relies on his movement and skating and is particularly impressive going post-to-post and using his pads to seal the ice. He also does a nice job catching pucks, limiting opposing possessions and not popping out rebounds.
He played a key role in Latvia's 3-2 upset win over Canada, stopping 55 of 57 shots through regulation and overtime and also denying 8 shootout attempts. He was named the Player of the Game, and he expressed his excitement for the incredible feat.
At first, I was in shock that we won against Canada. The feeling was amazing. I just couldn't believe what had just happened.
My goalie coach in Sherbrooke [Olivier Gervais] has helped me to be in shape and play a structure, event by event, and that's how I was playing against Canada.
His performance drew a compliment from former Canada gold-medal winning goaltender Carey Price:
