During a game against the Senators, Ridley Greig made a critical goal in an empty net, but moments later, Rielly delivered a concerning hit to Greig.
Following a thorough review, the NHL's Department of Player Safety came to a conclusion earlier today.
Rielly will face a five-game suspension as a result of his actions.
In response to the decision,
"🚨 📰 Breaking News: I'm told @MapleLeafs Reilly will receive a 5 Game Suspension."
With Rielly out, the Maple Leafs will face the St. Louis Blues tonight without their top defenseman.
