Golden Knights defenseman Alex Pietrangelo is still rehabbing his injuries, and Vegas could be eyeing Penguins defenseman Erik Karlsson as a potential replacement.
Vegas Golden Knights defenseman Alex Pietrangelo
isn't ruling out an eventual return to the NHL even though he won't be playing this year because of an ongoing hip injury and has been placed on LTIR.
You go through the process. You consult with the doctors and you try to come up with a plan. I'm going to try and rehab it and see how it is. I've talked to a lot of people who've had it. The rehab process is the way I want to do it.
I'm going to try and rehab and see what happens. The hardest thing will be not being around the locker room (every day) and being with the guys. We'll see how things go.
-Alex Pietranglo
Because he's on LTIR, it will give the Golden Knights a chance to secure a replacement under the salary cap.
Are the Golden Knights thinking about Erik Karlsson?
One of the most talked about defensemen in the NHL on the trade block is Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Erik Karlsson.
So far, he's been unsuccessful.
The Golden Knights could be a prime place for Karlsson to head to, as they'll need a right-handed defenseman to shoulder the load that was held by Pietrangelo.
He still has 2 years on his contract with an AAV (average annual value) of $11.5 million, some of which the Penguins would likely need to retain to make a deal work.
