Golden Knights forward Mitch Marner, who was acquired in a major sign and trade deal over the summer, has added a touching personal tribute to his new Vegas gloves he'll be wearing this year.
Mitch Marner is now officially a member of the Vegas Golden Knights, as he was acquired from the Toronto Maple Leafs in a
major sign and trade deal and then signed to an 8 year extension.
Marner's new contract has an AAV (average annual value) of $12 million, a $1.1 million raise over his annual salary with the Maple Leafs. He'll also be taking home more money thanks to Nevada's tax-friendly laws.
Earlier this year, Marner and his wife Stephanie welcomed son Miles Daniel into the world, and Marner had his initials stitched onto his new gloves he'll be wearing this year with Vegas.
Marner, who won only a pair of postseason series with the Maple Leafs, now joins a stacked Vegas club who wants to get back to winning the Stanley Cup as they did in 2023.
Mitch Marner believes the fit is perfect for him in Vegas
During his introductory presser shortly after being acquired by the Golden Knights, Marner explained that he believes that Vegas
represented the best situation for himself and his family.
Everything here is a good fit for my wife and I and our new son. The winning aspect of this team really helps everything as well. We have great players here. Luckily it all worked out because this is where we wanted to be.
Last year with the Maple Leafs, Marner had a career-best 102 points (27G, 75A) but faced scrutiny for having only an assist in Toronto's final 4 postseason games against the Panthers.
