Sidney Crosby's Incredible Record Remains Unbroken for 40 Years

The 2026 NHL draft has some elite talent in it, but Sidney Crosby's junior record remains intact after the CHL season ended this year.
Sidney Crosby remains one of the NHL's best players even at the age of 37.
That being said, Crosby can only have so much gas left in the tank as father time remains undefeated.
Within a few years Crosby will be retired and it will be time for a new generational talent to take over the league.
We have already seen the rise of a new crop of young superstars including
Connor Bedard and
Macklin Celebrini, but now a third young gun is on the rise.
That would be none other than Connor Bedard's cousin Gavin McKenna.
McKenna spent the season playing with the Medicine Hat Tigers of the WHL and had a historic season in his draft -1 year.
The 17-year-old put up 41 goals and 129 points in 56 games, even outscoring his older cousin, who put up 100 points in 62 games in his draft -1 year.
However, while McKenna's scoring rate is incredible, it still falls short of the record held by Sidney Crosby.
Crosby scored 54 goals and 135 points in 59 games in his draft -1 season playing in the QMJHL before putting up another 168 points in 62 games the final year before joining the Pittsburgh Penguins.
With a little luck, Crosby could become McKenna's mentor as he remains under contract for two more seasons after this one.
Should the Penguins win the draft lottery next year, McKenna would be a rookie in what could be Crosby's final year in the NHL.
