Former 1st round pick lands on waivers with 11 others on Wednesday
With only 6 days left until the start of the 2023-24 regular season, teams are continuing to trim the fat and whittle their way down to a 23-man roster. As is always the case as we approach the end of training camp, the waiver wire has become very busy this week and we're only adding to that total today.
TSN's Chris Johnston was right on top of the waiver placements again today, reporting that 12 new names have landed on the wire, with every single player placed on waivers yesterday having cleared. As far as today's waiver placements go, it's an interesting group with a number of viable NHLers available.
As is always the case from the opening of the waiver wire until the end of October, the order of teams that can place a claim is based off of last season's standings in reverse. The Anaheim Ducks get the first crack at placing a claim on any of the players above, followed by the Columbus Blue Jackets and Chicago Blackhawks.
If these players go unclaimed, the belief is that most or all of them will immediately be assigned to their teams' respective AHL affiliates.
