John Walton is the PxP broadcaster for the Washington Capitals over the radio, and he is certainly beloved by the fanbase.
Unfortunately, he is going through an incredibly scary health situation right now. In a message to his followers on Twitter, Walton revealed that he was diagnosed with colon cancer. He will now need surgery to have parts of his colon removed. However, he did reveal that the prognosis is looking pretty good. That said, he is not out of the woods just yet.
In his message to fans and followers, Walton urged everyone to get a standard check-up so potential illnesses can be detected early. It is an uplifting message that others should take very seriously.
Cancer is incredibly scary, regardless of what the prognosis is. Every single person knows at least someone who has gone through cancer and the horrible effects it has on individuals and their families. A cure needs to be found soon so that people can live longer, healthier, and less stressful lives.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to John Walton and his family during this very difficult time. We hope he is able to make it through and has a successful surgery.
