Kyle Dubas poaches key member of Brad Treliving's staff
The Pittsburgh Penguins and Kyle Dubas have officially brought on Wes Clark from the Toronto Maple Leafs as their new vice president of player personnel.
When Kyle Dubas parted ways with the Toronto Maple Leafs, it was on his own terms following unsuccessful contract negotiations. Soon after, Dubas secured a new position with Fenway Sports Group, becoming the president of hockey operations for the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Since his departure, Dubas has aimed to replicate his Toronto experience in Pittsburgh, despite previous claims of limited control within the Maple Leafs organization. Today, this replication continued as Dubas hired Wes Clark, formerly of the Maple Leafs, as the Penguins' vice president of player personnel.
The Penguins have named Wes Clark Vice President of Player Personnel.
Clark will oversee the club's amateur, professional, and college/European free agent scouting departments and will report directly to Kyle Dubas.
Clark has excelled in the draft department for the Maple Leafs over recent seasons, contributing to the selection of players such as Matthew Knies, Fraser Minten, Easton Cowan, and Ben Danford.
This move is seen as a significant gain for the Penguins, who have struggled with drafting and player development in recent years. For Dubas, it represents a continued effort to surround himself with trusted colleagues from his tenure in Toronto.
