San Jose Sharks give up on former 1st round pick trade him to rival

On Sunday afternoon, the San Jose Sharks and Nashville Predators came together to finalize a deal sending former first round Ozzy Wiesblatt to Nashville.

In a post on social media on Sunday, the San Jose Sharks announced that they've traded 2020 first round pick Ozzy Wiesblatt to the Nashville Predators in exchange for forward Egor Afanasyev.

The 22-year-old Wiesblatt played parts of the season for Nashville's affiliate Milwaukee Admirals and San Jose Barracuda in the American Hockey League. He finished with 17 points (four goals, 13 assists) in 50 games, 55 penalty minutes, and a minus-five rating. In 15 playoff games with the Admirals, he scored nine more points.

The majority of the 23-year-old Afanasyev's season was spent with AHL Milwaukee, where he finished with 54 points (27 goals, 27 assists), 60 penalty minutes, and a plus-23 record in 56 games. He proceeded to score nine points in fifteen postseason contests.
