Panthers head coach Paul Maurice is clapping back at a reporter in true Paul Maurice fashion after recent comments on the performance of captain Aleksander Barkov.
The Florida Panthers return to home ice deadlocked with the Edmonton Oilers at 1-1 after their thrilling 2OT win in Game 2 on Friday night.
Veteran
Brad Marchand, acquired from the divisional foe Boston Bruins at the Trade Deadline, scored his 2nd goal of the night and his 3rd of the series when he beat goaltender
Stuart Skinner on a partial breakaway.
One Panthers player who doesn't have a point is captain Aleksander Barkov; he does have 17 points (6G, 11A) in 19 postseason games, but is still awaiting his 1st point in the Stanley Cup Final.
Panthers coach Paul Maurice was asked about this during his late morning news conference ahead of Game 3, and he responded in true Paul Maurice fashion.
Maurice's comments caused laughter among the reporters who gathered for the news conference.
While Maurice was joking about trading Barkov, the thought of actually parting ways with the Panthers captain is unfeasible even if the club wanted to. He's under contract through 2030 with a hefty AAV (average annual value) of $10 million.
He was taken with the 2nd overall pick by the Panthers in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, and has played his entire NHL career for the franchise.
