Retiring goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury looks back with his trademark smile on some of his better pranks on his former teammates with both the Pittsburgh Penguins and Minnesota Wild.
Future Hall of Fame goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury decided before this year began that it would be his last in the National Hockey League, bringing to a close his career that began as a rookie in 2003 with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
During a late-night interview on Saturday with the Sporstnet panel following Minnesota's OT win over the Vancouver Canucks, Fleury was asked to look back on some of his trademark pranks over the years.
As he explained it, he started getting a knack for pranks thanks to the influence of some of the older veterans on the Penguins after he first broke into the NHL.
When I started in Pittsburgh, there were a lot of older guys who would do them and I think that's when I started loving it. Marc Bergevin was my 1st roommate and he kind of showed me the ropes with that stuff.
When looking back on what his favourite prank would have been, he thought a moment and said it was his customization of former teammate Brandon Duhaime's car last year.
I think my favourite one would have been....putting the guys' hotel room in the hallway, that was good, and I think the tires last year with Brandon Duhaime.
Fleury's former Penguins teammate Sidney Crosby has also often been the target of his pranks:
Fleury, a 3x Stanley Cup winner, is 2nd overall on the NHL's all-time win chart for a goaltender with 574.
