Toronto Maple Leafs among frontrunners to sign former rival & 39-Goal scorer

Max Pacioretty is a player who is used to lighting the lamp as he has done so 330 times throughout his NHL career, and now, he could be signed by the Toronto Maple Leafs.
This information comes from reporter Nick Alberga. At this stage, the Leafs appear to be a frontrunner. However, it is unclear whether or not Pacioretty will end up choosing them or not.
Pacioretty only had four goals in 47 games last season with the Washington Capitals. He also managed 19 assists to bring his total up to 23 points. Considering he is injury-prone and 35 years old, this could be a bit of a risk for the Leafs. However, if anything, it at least gives them some depth.
The Leafs are a team that is looking to get over the hump and at least make it to the Eastern Conference Finals. The East is pretty stacked these days, so it remains to be seen whether or not that will be possible. Regardless, there is no doubt that Brad Treliving is wheeling and dealing these days.
