Weeks after his arrest Alex Galchenyuk already has new contract offers on the table
On July 9th, the 3rd overall pick in the 2012 NHL Draft, Alex Galchenyuk was arrested in Scottsdale, Arizona. After his arrest Galchenyuk had his contract terminated by the Arizona Coyotes who had signed him just days earlier.
Last week, Galchenyuk opened up about needing help and enrolled himself into the NHL Player Assistance Program. Despite seeking help that hasn't stopped teams from reaching out to Galchenyuk about a potential contract.
With his physical and mental health as his priority, it appears Galchenyuk's hockey future is in question. But Galchenyuk's agent has already received interest from KHL club Salavat Yulaev Ufa.
The following quote was translated from Russian
We informed the agent of our interest. But for now, no more. While he is doing his own thing, we do not know how things will develop. We sort of hung up the call, it will be - we will consider it. There is a budget for this. It is unclear what condition he's in.
Galchenyuk, who is now 29, has played in 654 career games for Montreal, Arizona, Pittsburgh, Minnesota, Ottawa, Toronto and Colorado. He has scored 146 goals and added 208 assists.
