Rick Tocchet is the new bench boss of the Philadelphia Flyers, but now it's been revealed that he turned down a possible job in Boston for two huge reasons.

The Philadelphia Flyers made one of the biggest moves of the NHL off-season already, hiring former player Rick Tocchet as their new Head Coach, landing arguably the biggest name available in the NHL.
Unsurprisingly, the former Vancouver Canucks Head Coach drew interest from every team that had a vacancy, and given the talent in places like Boston and Pittsburgh, many were surprised that he ended up choosing Philadelphia.
Now, we have the official reasoning as to why he not only didn't choose the Boston Bruins, but completely denied any interview with the team, as he had doubts about the future of the front office with Don Sweeney and Cam Neely.
«His concern with Boston was that the GM maybe has 1-2 years left.

He was concerned for two reasons. Sweeney's status and Sweeney's track record with his head coaches.»
That report comes from RG Media, whose sources within the organization revealed that it was doubts from Tocchet over Sweeney's future as the Bruins GM and his history of quickly firing Head Coaches that held him back from even taking an interview with the team.
On paper, the Bruins still have the likes of Jeremy Swayman, Charlie McAvoy and David Pastrnak to lead them forward, but beyond that, there's very little hope for the future as well, and in Philadelphia, Tocchet now has the likes of Cam York and Matvei Michkov to work with moving forward.
Ultimately, Tocchet is confident that he made the right choice by choosing the Flyers, and with the hope of stability, he may have done the right thing, but for now, only time will tell once we see the Bruins new coach and how they can lead the franchise moving forward.
