Calgary Flames Place 3 Defenseman On The Trade Block After Brutal Start
As the NHL season reaches its 10-game mark, several Canadian teams find themselves in unexpected positions. The Edmonton Oilers, Calgary Flames, and Toronto Maple Leafs have all experienced inconsistent performances, leading to concerns among their fan bases.
The Calgary Flames, in particular, have had a challenging start, currently ranking 6th in the Pacific Division with a record of 3-7-1. This slow start has given rise to speculation about how these teams plan to reverse their fortunes.
Elliott Friedman, the host of the "32 Thoughts" podcast, offered insights into the Flames' potential moves.
"Calgary could have 3 defencemen on the market, 3 good defencemen on the market:
Noah Hanifin,
Chris Tanev and
Nikita Zadorov. It would be hilarious to see Calgary bailing out Toronto and Edmonton on one level"
Brad Treliving, the recent general manager of the Maple Leafs, previously served as the head of the Calgary Flames for nine seasons. His familiarity with both teams' players, along with his connection to Flames GM Craig Conroy, opens the door for potential deals between the teams.
As the Flames grapple with their challenges, it's conceivable that they will undertake significant changes in an effort to improve their current system. Whether the Oilers will seek talent from their provincial rivals remains to be seen.
