The Toronto Maple Leafs suffered a brutal loss in Game 7, and now one statistic shows just how bad they were in their final two losses of the series as they have once again fallen short of their Stanley Cup goals.

Despite all the promise shown throughout the 2024/25 campaign, the Toronto Maple Leafs once again let their fanbase down, being demolished in Game 7 to once again be eliminated before the Eastern Conference Finals.
It wasn't just that they lost that frustrated their fans, but the manner in which they lost, as the team were blown away 6-1 after an 0-0 first period, as the defending Stanley Cup Champions simply turned it on and proved they were the far superior team.
Unfortunately for Toronto, this summer is about to be one of change, but before that point, one statistic has been revealed that shows just how bad this team was down the stretch as they failed to win this series despite a 2-0 start on home ice.
According to Sportsnet, Toronto are the first team since the Philadelphia Flyers back in 1979 to lose back-to-back home games by at least five goals after they were taken down 6-1 in both Game 5 and 7 by the Panthers.
In the game between that, Toronto managed to come away victorious 2-0, but on their home ice in what should be a favourable position, the team struggled mightily, and they will now head into the off-season with so many questions to answer about their organization and their current roster.
Those changes will likely involve star forward Mitch Marner, who has been at the centre of so much criticism in recent days, but simply put, the entire team is to blame for 6-1 losses in two straight games at home, something that has seen them make history in a very bad way.
