Mitch Marner may have just hinted at his future with the Toronto Maple Leafs

Mitch Marner has been a stud for the Toronto Maple Leafs over the past few seasons, however, the playoff success has not been there.
Despite that, it does seem as though the franchise is very interested in bringing back Marner for the long term. This will have to include some pretty testy contract negotiations, especially when you consider how much money Marner will likely demand from the Leafs. Having said that, Marner recently said that he will not comment on contract talks throughout the year.
Recently, Marner sat down with Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, where he did have some interesting comments about the Maple Leafs and what it is like to play in Toronto. In fact, these comments bode well for him staying with the franchise.
"Thank you. At some point in time, people probably looked at taking me with that pick was a little bit of a reach just with size and everything like that and not really knowing anyone's future. Looking back at it, it's so funny, my wife and I are always talking... it's crazy we're going into our ninth year in Toronto and every year brings a new challenge and a new blessing and we're fortunate for it all. Just the love you get outside of the rink in the hockey community is one of a kind and I get to see it first hand every time at my charity event throughout the summers and even just walking around the community. I'm very greatful and very fortunate to be a Maple Leaf."
