Joe Bowness has officially announced his retirement after 38 seasons
Winnipeg Jets head coach Rick Bowness said he's retiring on Monday, ending his two seasons with the team. He decided this after the Jets lost in the playoffs to the Colorado Avalanche. It's interesting because Bowness was just named a finalist for the Jack Adams Award.
Under Bowness, the Jets did well, winning 98 games in two seasons. This year, they got even better, finishing second in their division with 52 wins.
Coaching news out of Winnipeg this morning. It's expected @NHLJets Head Coach Rick Bowness will announce his retirement today. Bowness has coached over 2600 games in the NHL and is a Jack Adams Award finalist for the first time. Great man. Great career.
Bowness has had a long NHL career, coaching for five decades with teams like the Winnipeg Jets, Boston Bruins, Ottawa Senators, New York Islanders, Arizona Coyotes, and Dallas Stars.
Last season, Bowness had some personal issues and missed 18 games.
