This summer has been a sad summer for the hockey community. Unfortunately today we have learned of the passing of another former hockey player. Today the girlfriend of former World Junior Champion, Michele Basso shared the sad news of his passing.
Basso, 26, had long been struggling with a bone sarcoma, an aggressive form of cancer which starts in the bone. Basso was a former member of the Italian World Junior Championship team, who also played defense in the Italian league.
Basso was a member of ltalia Hockey's U18 team in 2014-15, before moving up to the country's U20 team in 2015-16.
Basso played 11 games with Asiago in the Italian League in 2015-16.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to his friends, family and anyone impacted by this loss.
