With NHL pre-seasons underway, players are grinding and battling for roster spots, which means that pre-season games can sometimes get pretty intense. While some may view pre-season fights as pointless and risky, some players view them as a way to show coaching staffs and front offices that they'll do whatever it takes to win.
In an Original Six matchup on Sunday between the New York Rangers and Boston Bruins, things got pretty chippy in the 3rd period with the Bruins up 3-0 over the visiting Rangers, which led to this spirited scrap between 6'6 Ben Harpur (NYR) and 6'3 A.J. Greer (BOS):
Greer was heavily outsized in this one, giving up 3 inches and approximately 20 pounds to the 6'6, 230-pound Harpur, but he stood in there, to his credit, and threw down before being overwhelmed by his much larger opponent. In the end, it was Harpur who remained standing and Greer was left to scrape himself up off the ice after being dropped.
