Central Division team reportedly interested in making a huge push to land Noah Hanifin
Calgary Flames defenceman Noah Hanifin is about to enter the final year of his current deal with the team. Accord to multiple reports Hanifin has shared that he's looking to return to south of the border to play for an American team.
Hanifin, 26, would be a solid fit for every team in the National Hockey League, but according to Eklund of HockeyBuzz, the Nashville Predators have serious interest in the defender. This isn't surprising as brand new General Manager, Barry Trotz values defenders very highly.
Hanifin is a native of Boston, is about to enter the 9th season of his NHL career. Hanifin has spent the last 5 years with the Flames after being acquired from the Carolina Hurricanes.
The two most productive years of Hanifin's career have come over the last two years. Hanifin put up 48 and 38 points, respectively, which certainly raises his trade value.
Hanifin's cap hit of $4.95 million for the 2023-24 season could be fully absorbed by the Nashville Predators, if they chose to do so, given that they have just over $7.9 in available space.
Adding Hanifin to a defensive core that features Roman Josi, Ryan McDonagh and Dante Fabbro would give the Preds an incredibly solid top-four as they look to compete for a wild card spot in the Western Conference.
