This summer has been filled with William Nylander trade rumors. In early July rumors began to swirl that William Nylander was looking for an eight-year contract with a cap hit of over $10 million per season. According to multiple reports this was much higher than the Leafs were comfortable offering.
Nylander has been connected to the Carolina Hurricanes, New York Islanders, Arizona Coyotes and now the St. Louis Blues. The latest rumor comes from NHL Trade Rumors and would see multiple assets return to Toronto in a potential deal.
To St Louis Blues RW William Nylander ( $6.96 million a year, free agent next summer)
To Toronto Maple Leafs RD Colton Parayko ( $6.50 million a year, under contract for seven more years) LW Jake Neighbours ( $835k with two more seasons until restricted free agency ) 1st Round Pick in 2024
This deal would provide great value for the Maple Leafs, but would require both William Nylander and Colton Parayko to potentially waive their no trade clauses. This deal would likely require Nylander to sign a contract extension with the Blues.
With more and more rumors surfacing daily it does seem like the Leafs still have plenty of interest in moving on from the Nylander contract.
