Norwegian Prospect Faces Massive Injury After Taking A Skate Blade To The Chest
In a recent harrowing incident, 19-year-old hockey player Jonas Nyhus Myhre faced a dangerous situation when a skate blade struck his chest during a game in Norway, causing a split in his pectoral muscle.
Reflecting on the incident, Nyhus Myhre shared,
"I never saw the wound myself, so I pulled up my jersey and asked some teammates if it was bleeding. They had a shock reaction and immediately called for a doctor.
"The chest muscle was split in half."
Jonas Nyhus MyhreThe severity of the injury became apparent as doctors had to stitch not only the skin but also the pectoral muscle itself, emphasizing the depth of the cut.
While Nyhus Myhre was initially set to play for Norway in the upcoming World Junior Hockey Championships, this unfortunate incident has taken that possibility off the table. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of cut-resistant equipment and undergarments in hockey.
Nyhus Myhre acknowledged that, despite the severity, the cut was fortunately not far from his heart, underscoring the need for safety measures in the sport.
